What Nonprofit & Mission-Focused Leaders Say

This will probably be the most worthwhile thing I will do in 2021. Not only did I identify my purpose, I came to know and appreciate myself much more - which is just about priceless. In Feb 2020, I took a 4 week course aimed at the recently retired to Explore Your Future. While there was much overlap - passions, skills, strengths, values - I got vastly more our of Discover Your Purpose.  I believe I grew in self-knowledge over the last 4 weeks, which I will unquestionably benefit from.    Dr. Ogren has the passion for this topic that only life experience can bring.  While I expected to identify my purpose, I also grew to know myself much better in ways which are really sticking with me. I grew to appreciate what makes me unique in a much more specific way that I can use. In addition, while I had known for awhile that “making a difference” motivates me, I had not appreciated that not everyone is built like that and in fact it is one that sets me apart which I should appreciate much more than I have in the past. Thank you Dr. Ogren for those gifts!

This was a course of enlightenment and is a good resource to enhance one's confidence and development even if their life course takes a detour.

Tammy truly transformed the way we experience strategic planning. What once felt overwhelming and like something we just needed to "get through" became a process that felt realistic, thoughtful, and genuinely meaningful. Her structured yet collaborative approach created space for every voice to be heard. She was able to take our values and beliefs and bring them into clearer focus, helping us turn what matters most into a direction we can confidently move forward with. The bottom-up process created clarity and alignment in a way that felt natural, and the end result is a plan we believe in and feel proud to own. I have also had the opportunity to participate in leadership coaching with Tammy, which has been just as impactful. She has helped me gain confidence in leaning into my natural strengths and leadership style while intentionally continuing to build and nurture a strong, connected team environment. Working with Tammy has created meaningful growth for our organization and for me, personally, as a leader. I am truly grateful for both.

I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to participate in the Leadership Academy with Tammy. It was time well spent and a meaningful investment in leadership growth. Tammy is a gifted coach who created a thoughtful and engaging learning experience that strengthened my confidence and leadership skills. I would welcome the opportunity to continue learning from her in the future.

This was a meaningful, relevant workshop as I was shifting from one place in life to another. It provided a sensible structure for the work of self-reflection and exploring future direction, for finding what will be most rewarding to me and to the possible situation and/or organization, for getting as close as possible to a win-win scenario in what I have to offer (and want to get out of an opportunity) and is needed by the situation/opportunity/organization.

Strategic planning with Tammy isn’t a retreat or a binder that sits on a shelf — it’s a leadership discipline. Over five years of working together, our Board and leadership team have built real alignment, clearer accountability, and measurable progress. We completed our three-year strategic goals because her process creates clarity, structure, and forward momentum. It has fundamentally strengthened how we lead.

For the past year and a half I have been participating in a leadership development program facilitated by Tammy Ogren. One of the most valuable parts of the program has been the one-on-one coaching sessions. During these conversations, we work through real-life scenarios and apply the leadership concepts from the training directly to situations I face with my team. This has been a very different experience from other leadership trainings I’ve attended, and it has been so beneficial in helping me apply what I’m learning in real life. I’ve strengthened my communication with my team and gained the confidence I need to be a positive, supportive leader. It has truly been life-changing for my career and my role.

My favorite part of the session was everything about the experience! Tammy's coursework and introductions, followed by interactive "classroom" discussions allowed us to understand and appreciate our unique personality traits through real-life experiences and how we can utilize them to our personal satisfaction and reward. Tammy was an excellent teacher, and her personal journey served as an example of how we can get stuck in "life-purposes" that aren't fulfilling and cause stress because they don't match our unique personalities.

Looking to find your path from the path you are now on? Focusing on your uniqueness, values, passions, and energies will help you identify a new insight and possibilities you may not have considered. This is the course for you. Personally, I am now thinking of myself with a whole new attitude.

I want to share how impressed I’ve been with one of our team members who participated in the leadership academy this year. The positive changes and growth has been noticeable. She appears to be much more confident and has contributed some fantastic ideas to the program. I’m truly delighted she had the opportunity to participate, as it has made a significant impact.
